vulnerable body

Tailoring | University of Westminster, MFA Menswear with Professional Experience | 2023

This project revolves around Alexander McQueen’s legacy of tailoring, calling for the synthesization of historical and contemporary research—surrounding both McQueen’s brand identity and newly-introduced references—to create an original series of design investigations. Starting from a few conceptual tenets of the current McQueen brand—namely human anatomy and fragility and power—I explored the ideas and visuals of the vulnerability of the body, self-defense, martial arts, military combatives, protective garments, and embracing the softness amidst harder structures within tailoring.
